November 30: Rest day in Rancagua

It's been five solid cycling days and I wasn't feeling excited about doing stuff today, so it was an actual rest day. So there's not much to report. The hotel had a breakfast buffet, but since there's only one more day I didn't overdo it. I went out for a walk around at lunchtime, got some empanadas from a bakery. For dinner I went out to a Japanese restaurant - and that got interesting.

When I arrived there was a small but expectant crowd at the entrance. Was it super busy and everyone was waiting for a table? I went in to find out; I didn't get an answer but I did get a table. Had a long chat to the waiter, who spoke English! A few of the other staff also spoke some English and I haven't been this sociable all trip. By chance, today is the two year anniversary of the restaurant and a local Kendo (sword) martial arts group was there to give a demonstration. So it ended up being a late night.

Last ride tomorrow! It's a shortish one, 6 hours and under 100km, and no gravel. Hope the bike and gear gets to the end without any more problems. The pannier with broken clip is not going to last much longer...
